Club Captains
Club Captains play an important role in representing swimmers and supporting the culture of Dingwall Amateur Swimming Club. They act as role models within the squad structure, helping to create a positive, welcoming, and supportive environment for swimmers of all ages.
Captaincy is not just a title. It is a responsibility built on effort, attitude, kindness, and leadership by example.
The Role of a Club Captain
Club Captains are expected to:
- Lead by example in training and at competitions
- Support teammates and promote positive behaviour
- Represent the values of Dingwall ASC
- Act as a link between swimmers and the coaching team
Captains work closely with the coaching staff and are trusted to contribute to the culture and direction of the club.
Captaincy and Legacy
Each year the Captains are encouraged to complete a Legacy Project during their time in the role. A Legacy Project is something the captains creates, leads, or improves that leaves a lasting, positive impact on the club.
Legacy projects may include initiatives that:
- Strengthen team culture
- Support swimmer wellbeing
- Encourage leadership and involvement
- Create traditions that future captains can build upon
These projects reflect the captain’s personality, strengths, and commitment to the club, and help ensure that each captain leaves their own mark.
