Weekly Training

Training sessions run throughout the week across different squads and locations. Each squad follows a structured programme designed to meet the needs of swimmers at that stage of development.

Training times and locations are communicated clearly to swimmers and families and are reviewed periodically.

Attendance Expectations

Regular attendance is essential for progress and squad cohesion. Swimmers are expected to:

  • Attend scheduled sessions consistently
  • Arrive on time and prepared
  • Inform coaches in advance of any absences

Commitment to training supports both individual development and the wider team environment.

What to Bring

As swimmers progress through the club, having appropriate training equipment helps sessions run smoothly and supports the development of independence and responsibility.

Swimmers should arrive at training with:

  • Swimwear and goggles
  • A water bottle
  • A positive attitude and readiness to train

Training Equipment

Training equipment is used regularly across squads to support technical development, skill acquisition, and effective session delivery. While there is no obligation to purchase equipment, having personal kit can significantly enhance training, particularly as swimmers progress through the pathway.

Pathway Squad

Swimmers in the Pathway Squad are encouraged to begin building a small, practical kit, stored in a mesh kit bag. This helps sessions run efficiently and supports the transition into more structured training.

Recommended starter items:

  • Training fins
  • Kickboard
  • Pull buoy
  • Hand paddles

This core set covers the majority of equipment used in Pathway sessions.

Performance Squad/Elite Squad

Swimmers in Performance Squad and higher are recommended to have a full training kit, which typically includes:

  • Fins
  • Kickboard
  • Pull buoy
  • Hand paddles
  • Snorkel
  • Mesh kit bag

As swimmers progress, having well-fitted personal equipment becomes increasingly beneficial.

Equipment Guidance

Coaches will advise swimmers on the appropriate use of equipment during sessions and will ensure it is introduced safely and progressively.

If you have any questions about equipment or would like advice on suitable purchases, please speak to a member of the coaching team, who will be happy to help.
